Here you can watch birds from the doorstep of your room. Walk the track and boardwalk on our pest protected reserve at your leisure. Recover from your long journey in total peace and quiet.

One of the highlights of our recent trip to New Zealand and Australia was our stay at Fernbirds. Your home with its setting and surroundings, is a hidden gem. The location alone would make it a destination for birders and others simply wanting to enjoy nature at its best.
As a stopover for those visiting Stewart Island, it couldn't be more ideal, just minutes from the Invercargill airport.
You and Ian are terrific hosts and we all will keep Fernbirds on our list of places to return.
