Our homestay is located on an eco-friendly, privately owned, managed and protected forest & wetland reserve on the edge of the New River Estuary, Invercargill, Southland. We have constantly worked on improving this reserve as a bird habitat in the 20 years we have been here.

Pest animal control has had a measured result of a 400% increase in fernbird numbers over 2 years. Tuis and bellbirds provide a dawn chorus unheard in most of New Zealand. Watch birds from the doorstep.

We are only 10 minutes drive from Invercargill, 5 minutes to airport, 25 minutes to Bluff port. Our homestay is ideal for stopping over before or after Stewart Island, Catlins or Fiordland.

Take a short drive or a courtesy coach to nearby restaurants or use our kitchen to cook your evening meal.

Tariff: NZ$120 couple, NZ$100 single. Breakfast and guided walk included.

Staying at our relaxing homestay increases your opportunities of seeing fernbirds but if your itinerary does not allow a stay, contact us to arrange a time for a tour either early morning or evening. A small charge applies.
